I spoke with Pam Allred about a 4 month old pet cat she had named "Mia". She said Mia was her pet, stayed inside with her, was very affectionate and loving, and even slept in the bed with her. I decided to purchase her for $1100 plus $300 shipping and her half sister for $1200. On the day Mia was to be shipped, Pam called me to tell me that her vet told her that day that Mia had a very minor cold and would need antibiotics for 7 days. So we resceduled the plane ride. Aprox, 2 to 3 weeks later, the new day we were to get Mia and "Reflection" , Pam called about an hour before we were to leave for New Orleans airport to tell me that "reflection" didnt weigh enough to be sent but Mia would be on her way. She also said that her vet said Mia's ears looked "very good" (There was no prior problem with her ears that I knew of.) Two days after I received Mia I took her to the vet just to make sure she was healthy. My vet told me this cat had NOT been taken care of. She had two severe yeast and bacterial infections in both ears. My vet said they have been there a while. She had bad scabs and sores on the bottoms of her back feet where my vet said she had been kept in a dirty cage. She had ringworms, and coccidia. My vet said she had all of these illnesses prior to her coming to me. Not to mention she acted like she had never been picked up before, certainly never slept in a bed with a human. When I looked into it more, I noticed that words had been scratched out on her health certificate. When I called the number on that certificate the lady pulled up her file and said that was the first time she had ever been there and that the cats looked sickly. She also said that the white persian (MIA) had ear mites and was sent home with medication. She took her to get that certificate the same day she shipped her to me. I was never made aware of any ear mites or meds. When I contacted Pam she was very rude and told me I could send Mia back and she would ship me another one. The cost would be mine I'm sure. First of all, Mia could NOT get on the plane with all of her contagious illnesses. Second, I would not ever want to put that cat back in that situation of being neglected. Pam refuses to refund any of my money for Mia or pay for her vet bills. Needless to say, I did not want the other cat. I feel so bad that MIa is so sick. I have had her three weeks and she still feels awful. I feel so sorry for anyone that purchases a cat from this cattery. It has been such a sad and unplesant experience. 7/15/07 Our sources told us that Pam Ellis Allred of Echo-Lake Cattery who has a complaint filed by her buyer, is good friends with Shannon Mcgraw of Meow House Kittens.
