Grabswag (Nextown Technologies, LLC)

OMITTING IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON CHARGES

Orlando, Florida

I AM ABSOLUTELY LIVID!!!!!

I found a link to grabswag.com and was hoping to get more information on the items that are in the auctions and how it all worked.

I went through each website screen carefully. On the first page, it asked for general information (such as name, email address, user name and password). Once completed, I clicked the button that said "I'm ready to start winning" and was brought to the second website page. This page had information on why grabswag was better than Ebay (I beg to differ...I at least know what I'm' paying for and when with Ebay!!!) and as you scroll down to near the bottom, there is an area where you can enter your credit card. I thought that they just wanted it in case a bid was placed...BOY! WAS I WRONG!!!

After hitting the "I'm ready to start winning" button on the second page...I was immediately charged $99! ABSOLUTELY NO WHERE did this site say there would be a charge of ANY amount at ANY TIME!!

As soon as I saw the receipt - I used the number that was listed 888-467-4217 and spoke with an Agent . I told her that I had NOT intended to purchase anything, I didn't have the funds in my budget. She proceeded to try and sell me an option that would only be $45. I told her "No" and that I needed get my money back. After several minutes of her continually trying to sell me more - I me saying "No" again...she finally got the message and worked on my refund.

After several minutes of her entering information on her computer, she finally said that my account had been closed and that a credit of $99 would be put back on my card anywhere between 7-10 business days. Now, isn't that convenient for them - that it takes only milliseconds for the money to come out of my account, but 7-10 days to get it back!!

I asked her to tell me where in the website the information was on the $99 charge - she said it was in the Terms & Conditions section. (Note: this section was NOT available until after they had my money). I have looked the T&C section over and have NOT found anything pertaining to charges upon starting the membership.

I believe that this company is DECEITFUL in that there is no information on any type of charges PRIOR to signing up. SHAME ON YOU!!

To make it right - PLEASE list any information about charges someplace visible on your site and let people make their own decision if they want to join or not. It's not right to snag people's money when they are unsuspecting.

I fell for the grabswag bait & switch deal yesterday too. 07/14/11.

All I saw on their now spam window was 10 free bids when signing up. I don't recall seeing anything about the $99.00 fee.
Since I did not see anything about the sign up fee , I continued to register.
I filled in all required personal info and C Card info.
When I finished the Card info the grabswag site did "Not" give me an option to ok / submit or cancel and instantly charged me & congratulated me for being one more fool.
I called the grabswag service dept and was told thatr when I agreed to sign up and provided my Card info it was a binding agreement and the $99.00 charge would not be refunded.
Seems I will be wasting plenty of time now filing complaints with the BBB, FTC, Texas AG & Discover.
Why companies like these think they can scam & get away with it is amazing.
Am I blind or did I not see the fine print with this deal ??
I did not see anything in the First signup windows about the 10 free bids costing $99.oo. Anyone else have this problem ??.
I would not have signed up for the Free $99.00 membership if I had an option to cancel before I saw that there wasn't even a Submit & or Cancel Button.
. As soon as I typed the last letter in the Card info window it went through without any choice. Period. I instantly knew that I had Been Scammed.
The same thing happened to me on 7/19/11

I called and I started yelling at them and quoting things from their terms & conditions. I talked with the supervisor and i got 75% back of the $99.

Still though..this site is pointless! There are clearly bidders working with the site to scam people even further into paying more than the item is worth. I am going to file a complaint against this company
