Selling my 2010 MacBook Pro 13" Mint Condition
This guy seemed legitimate and was offering a good deal on a MacBook Pro and was willing to meet in person and everything. I brought cash, saw the computer was in the box and looked good. I paid and went home. Little did I know that he had totally ripped me off. Inside was not a computer from 2010 but one from 2008. Instead of buying a computer that was less than a year old like he claimed I ended up with one well over three years old. The MacBooks Pros look identical so I didn't realize this until I actually booted it up and checked the system information. Emailed him thinking maybe he just made a simple mistake. He told me all sales were final, I was out of luck, and that I should have examined the product closer. He said you buy at your own risk on Craigslist and apparently that means he can lie and post whatever he wants to get a sale. Guy is a total scam and fraud. Stay away, do not buy. I am contacting the police and will be pursuing every method possible to get my money back. This guy has numerous other postings on here so check out how big a scammer this guy is. Beware.
I was the seller of this computer. I have posted already to this site regarding this buyer. The computer I sold (in person) to mr Jerry Newman was exactly as advertised. I have already today been to the police immediately after threats. I have the receipt from the original purchase, and proof that all of the "mislead" material he has said is false. He (within 5 min of the transaction) immediately contacted me asking for just some money back, then I told him that the person to person sale was final. He then threatened me with ridiculous police accusations, and threats. This was an IN PERSON sale. He had more than enough time to go over all so called problems or anything with the item. He chose to purchase is, he did so. Just wanted to clear all of this up. No matter what he continues to post on this site (which I am sure he will) the bottom line is I gave him ample opportunity to look over the machine. Who knows what he did after I sold it to him, once again face to face. I am sure he will post some whitty reply to this, however, I have found many complaints about this buyer as well... I will just leave it at that....
You can see this guy has done this before and is on here immediately trying to clear his name so he can go on scamming people. I'm going to post our email conversation after I realized he had ripped me off so you can see what this guy does. He refused to even acknowledge the fact that his ad listed the wrong product and kept trying to blame me. Read the emails and decide for yourself. And whatever you do, don't buy from this guy. There are plenty of honest merchants out there who deserve your business.

So we've got an issue. You said in your ad that this was a 2010 MacBook and that you've had it less than a year. I just finished setting it up though and it is the Mid-2009 model, which means it's probably about 2 1/2 years old. Upon closer examination it's not exactly in mint condition like you said either. I'm not as concerned with the condition as nothing is that badly damaged, but you did misrepresent the product and took money for something you didn't list. I'm either going too need you to give me some of the cash back as I'm not paying over $800 for this model MacBook or just do a complete refund and I'll give you the computer back. Please get back to me ASAP so we can resolve this matter.

I'm hoping you've just been away from your computer and that you will get back to me soon. However, it's been over an hour and I just want to make sure you're not ignoring me. I need to hear back from you by the end of the day or I will be contacting to police to resolve this matter. I am hoping we can figure this out without outside involvement, but I am not going to be scammed like this. I have your email, I took down your license plate number when we met, I have a copy of your ad printed to prove that you misrepresented the product. Please reply back and talk to me in person or prepare to be talking to the police tomorrow and explaining yourself.

First off I did not mis represent my product. I purchased this computer last year. And I have the receipt for that purchase to prove it. Secondly, I presented the product to you face to face before purchase. If you want to talk to the police go ahead. As they will tell you its a civil matter. I gave you the computer to your face as you paid me for it. Sorry but nothing was mis represented and you had plenty of time to take a look and look over it. You may talk to the police, but as a family member of many officers and agents, that won't do you any good. Nothing was mis represented and I did nothing wrong. Sorry but I will not be accepting returns for the computer, all sales are final.

Your ad says 2010 MacBook Pro. This is not a 2010 MacBook Pro, it is a completely different model. It is mid-2009 which is not even close to the 2010. How can you say that is not misrepresented. You blantantly lied about what the product was. Since you did not provide the receipt, I had no way of knowing when you purchased it just by looking at it and had to take your word for it until I was able to start up the computer. I will be getting a refund or I will be going to the police and we'll see what good it will. If it ends up being a civil matter then I will take your court and we will deal with it there. Since it seems like you're running a scam though I think the police might be interested in talking to you.

Go ahead and speak to the police. And spend 4x as much in small claims court. And I have over 30+ people that I have sold to in the past on craigslist. I will not be speaking to you anymore. I have the reciept and I am not giving a refund. Read the craigslist guidelines. As I do have proof of the date of purchase so I would tread carefully. It says purchase is at your own risk. I will not be responding anymore due to your threats. Bye

Buy at your own risk does not mean you can rip people off. It does not give you a right to conduct illegal activity over Craigslist. I will be talking to police when I get off work today. I'm pretty sure they will help me resolve this matter. If not, expect to get your court summons in the mail soon. I'll be sure to include court costs in my suit against you since you are refusing to even speak to me anymore to try and resolve this matter. You make think that because you got cash you can just take off and get away with this, but that is not the case. You are a lying, scamming fraud who has ripped me off and stolen my money.

Your talking crazy. Good luck. You had the computer right in front of you. Good luck in court with that. And I have the receipt, so good luck with that. And I have plenty of references so good luck with that. Once again. Bye

What don't you get. The 2010 and 2009 models are identical when looking at them. Just looking at them in a parking lot gave me no way to tell which model you were selling me. Why are you just ignoring the fact that you lied on your ad. Do you not understand that you listed it as a 2010 MacBook Pro even though it was not. You are really screwing me over right now. Just for the sake of not dealing with this I'm going to offer you a one-time deal. I'll give you the computer back and you give me back $735. You keep the leftover $100 for yourself and get the computer back just so I can get most of my money back and buy the MacBook I actually need and want. If not I need some basic information from you so I can talk to the police and file a report. I've got your name already but address and phone number would help. If you're so confident that you're in the right you should have no problem providing that information.

I am now blocking your emails. This is a final purchase, you saw the product and bought it. I do not want it back. Plane and simple. The end. It is exactly what I said it was, and I have proof of that… I am not responding anymore to you once so ever. Your wasting my time…...
So there's our email conversation. You be the judge if you want to deal with this guy or not. Apparently he can write whatever he wants in the ad and if you don't catch it in the 30 seconds you see him in person then you're out of luck and he can take your money and run. I don't know if he'll respond to this posting or not, but if he does maybe he can explain why he listed a 2010 model and sold me a 2009. He probably won't even address that though cause he's a lying scumbag. Hope you see this warning and beware and don't make the mistake I made.
Once again... like it says in the emails. I have proof of purchase that it is a 2010 model. So please everyone do read the emails...... everything I said was true. Thanks!
Feel free to email me. I will send you a picture with a screenshot of the MacBook clearly showing that it is a mid-2009 model and that this guy is lying. I can't figure out a way to post picture on here or I would post it right here.
And now that I've posted online to warn people about this guy he finally responds again is offering me money to take back my comments. He's promising to send me a check. I asked him to meet in person and give me back some of the cash he stole from me today, and he said he's leaving the state headed to Chicago already and the only way I can get any money back is if he mails it. It's up to you to decide, but a guy who sells a laptop and then is out of the state already a couple hours later shows you what a scam this is. If he would have admitted his mistake and gave me cash back this whole thing could have been avoided. Unfortunately, this guy has already screwed me once and I definitely don't trust him enough to send me a check. Everyone needs to know what's going on with this guy and beware.
Jnewman, please contact me through this website. I would really like to speak to you regarding this. I have some information that could help you, as you see I am in the same boat. I don't trust this person one bit as they constantly update these postings with new login and names to try and through people off. I have tried to contact you but it doesn't seem to go through. Please try to contact me. Thank you very much!!!

I'm not sure how to contact you through this site either. You can shoot me an email at:
jnewman2222@gmail.com
Hope you get that, would definitely be interested in talking.
RyanB, I am not sure how we are connected as i have read your other posts and I have only dealt with one other person on here, and I have been in constant contact with Mr. Newman regarding a partial refund as requested by him, however still no response.
I would like to go ahead and take back everything I said in this scam posting. Both Marty and I jumped to conclusions after our dealings, and we have worked things out at this point. I thought I had been scammed but it ended up just being a misunderstanding. Marty has been great helping to clear everything up and rectify the situation. He is a great seller and I definitely recommend him. Sorry for any confusion.
