I so wish that I had known this 2 years ago. I purchased a show quality kitten from Kerrie Batchos of Batchos Persians to be loved as a pet. I became friends with the breeder, and we spoke on the phone and corresponded daily for a year before I purchased my kitten from her. She told me that there was absolutely no PKD in her lines, and I believed her. I paid $1250 for my kitten, and fell in love with her. 6 months later, the breeder emailed me to tell me that she had tested her cats for PKD, and the mother of my kitten tested positive for PKD. I had DNA testing and sonograms, and sure enough, my kitten has PKD. Kerrie Batchos has not spoken to me since, and the only thing that she will do to correct the situation is to give me a another kitten if my cat dies before she's 5 years old. She told me that she's being nice by even promising me that, since I signed a contract and PKD > isnt mentioned. She also told me that since I am "just a pet owner", I just don't understand why she still breeds a sick cat. I am, of > course, heartbroken that my beautiful angel may not live a long life, > and the vet bills are steep. To make matters even worse, Kerrie refuses to take her PKD dam out of her breeding program, and even though the cat is 9 years old with PKD, she continues to breed her at least twice a year. I think this it is unconscionable that she has never offered to refund me a dime, and that she continues to breed sick cats!
